H.E. Ly ChanTola, Secretary of State at the Office of the Council of Ministers, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the Legal Reform Committee (LRC), assigned Ms. Phok Sereyratana, Ms. Pen Linna, and Mr. Minh Someth, Legal Specialist of the LRC, to participate in a discussion meeting with Professor Meiling Huang, Senior Legal Officer of UNIDROIT and Co-Director of the Asian Transnational Law Centre (ATLC), regarding the preparation of a consultation workshop on the development of a Commercial Code for Cambodia.

Ly ChanTola, Secretary of State at the Office of the Council of Ministers, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the Legal Reform Committee (LRC), assigned Ms. Phok Sereyratana, Ms. Pen Linna, and Mr. Minh Someth, Legal Specialist of the LRC, to participate in a discussion meeting with Professor Meiling Huang, Senior Legal Officer of UNIDROIT and Co-Director of the Asian Transnational Law Centre (ATLC), regarding the preparation of a consultation workshop on the development of a Commercial Code for Cambodia.

On the afternoon of Friday, April 24, 2026, H.E. Ly ChanTola, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the Legal Reform Committee (LRC), assigned Ms. Phok Sereyratana, Ms. Pen Linna, and Mr. Minh Someth, Legal Specialist of the LRC, to attend a discussion meeting with Professor Meiling Huang, Senior Legal Officer of UNIDROIT and Co-Director of the Asian Transnational Law Centre (ATLC), on organizing a consultation workshop concerning the drafting of a Commercial Code for Cambodia.
This meeting was organized to present an overview of the strategic framework of the Royal Government of Cambodia’s legal reform program, particularly the strategic objectives of legal reform that can be achieved through phased implementation and prioritization based on actual needs. These include the modernization of legal instruments, harmonization of legal norms, standardization of the legal system, strengthening the coherence and integrity of the legal framework, and ensuring the sustainability of the rule of law culture.
In this context, the preparation of a Commercial Code for Cambodia represents a significant legal reform initiative that will contribute to establishing a clearer and more predictable legal framework for commercial activities within Cambodia.
The meeting also included detailed discussions on organizing a consultation workshop on the development of the Commercial Code for Cambodia, which is scheduled to take place in June.
