On the afternoon of Tuesday, 2 June 2026, at the Peace Palace of the Office of the Council of Ministers, H.E. LY Chantola, Secretary of State of the Office of the Council of Ministers, Deputy Chairman and Secretary-General of the Legal Reform Committee (LRC), accompanied by H.E. Penn Bunchea, Deputy Secretary-General of the LRC, attended a meeting to discuss the Concept Note on the organization of the consultation workshop on the preparation of the Commercial Code for Cambodia. The meeting was held under the presidency of H.E. Dr. Sok Siphana, Senior Minister in charge of Special Missions and Vice-Chairman of the LRC.
The meeting was organized to ensure readiness in relation to the collection of inputs and research work for the preparation of the consultation workshop on the Commercial Code for Cambodia. The preparation of the Commercial Code is a complex project that requires an in-depth study of drafting methodologies and supporting mechanisms, together with a coordination strategy involving ministries, institutions, the private sector, and development partners.
In this regard, the consultation workshop on the “Preparation of the Commercial Code for Cambodia” will be organized with the participation of all relevant stakeholders, with the objective of reviewing and discussing: (1) the collection of inputs on the report concerning the need to draft a Commercial Code for Cambodia; (2) the determination of the scope of commercial relations to be included in the Code; and (3) the identification of an appropriate drafting methodology that responds to practical needs, whether through compilation, consolidation, or codification.
The meeting was attended by H.E. Vice-Chairman, H.E. Deputy Secretary-General, legal experts of the LRC, and other relevant participants.
