H.E. LY Chantola, Secretary of State of the Office of the Council of Ministers and Deputy Chairman and Secretary-General of the Legal Reform Committee (LRC), convened a meeting to discuss the concept note on organizing a consultation workshop on the drafting of a Commercial Code for Cambodia.
On Thursday afternoon, 19 February 2026, at the Peace Palace, Office of the Council of Ministers, H.E. LY Chantola, Secretary of State of the Office of the Council of Ministers and Deputy Chairman and Secretary-General of the LRC, convened a meeting to discuss the concept note on organizing a consultation workshop on the drafting of a Commercial Code for Cambodia, under the presidency of H.E. Academician SOK Siphana, Senior Minister in charge of Special Missions and Deputy Chairman of the LRC. The meeting was held to ensure thorough preparation, including the collection of inputs and research work for the organization of the consultation workshop on the drafting of a Commercial Code for Cambodia. The preparation of a Commercial Code is a complex project that requires in-depth study of drafting methodologies and supporting mechanisms, combined with an inter-ministerial communication strategy involving ministries, institutions, the private sector, and development partners.
In this regard, the workshop on “Drafting a Commercial Code for Cambodia” will be organized with the participation of all relevant stakeholders in order to review and discuss:
1. The collection of inputs on the report regarding the necessity of drafting a Commercial Code for Cambodia;
2. The determination of the scope of commercial relations to be included in the Code; and
3. The identification of an appropriate drafting methodology that responds to practical needs (Compilation, Consolidation, or Codification).
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Chairman, Deputy Secretaries-General, LRC Legal Specialists, and other relevant stakeholders.
